Context
On the 1st day of the 1st month in the Geng-Wu year, friends came to give New Year greetings and asked: the weather is changing — could you check whether it will snow tomorrow? The author cast a hexagram on the spot and got Lin transforming into Shi. The 1st of the 1st lunar month falls within December 1989, the Chou month, on the Ren-Chen day.

Analysis
The Parents line governs rain. Parents Si Fire moves and transforms with reciprocal production — not only no rain, but sun: Fire is the image of light, transforming into Wood that produces back — Wood and Fire flowing together, clear weather.
The 2nd is a Si day, when Parents meet the day's authority and the moving line enters long-life-thriving — so the 2nd brings no snow but sun.
Actual outcome
The next day was exactly so — sunny, with no snow.
