Context
Earthquake-related clouds appeared in the north-south direction. The author immediately cast a hexagram and got Da Zhuang transforming into Heng to forecast the earthquake.

Analysis
Da Zhuang sits in Kun palace. The classics say: "When the Snake Officials move in Kun, there is an earthquake." Here the Snake Officials are still — there should be no quake. But the Azure Dragon (Yin Wood) is also a great Snake — when the great Snake moves the force is even stronger, so the hexagram with the Azure Dragon moving must produce an earthquake.
Direction: Zhen is east. Hawaii lies east of China. Magnitude: Zhen = 4, Qian = 1, summing to 5; with the moving line +1 it becomes 6. Timing: 26 September, 2–3 October.
Actual outcome
On 26 September 1987 a magnitude-5.3 quake struck Tibet. On 2–3 October 1987 a magnitude-6.2 quake struck Hawaii. The prediction was published in the Hong Kong journal 'Phat Huy Co Hoc', January 1990 issue.
