Context
Two families whose daughters had run away for several days had searched everywhere without finding them; they asked to know where the girls were and whether they would return. The hexagram cast was Da Xu.

Analysis
Hexagram Da Xu: Mountain above, Heaven below. Qian (Heaven) advances; Gen (Mountain) blocks the advance. "Xu" means held back — the children are detained by someone. Children Shen Metal is hidden beneath Chen Earth; Chen lies in the southeast, and the hidden line sits in the inner Qian (which is northwest). Qian represents the capital. The cover (Chen Earth) producing the hidden Shen Metal means someone is helping them — they are safe. On the Ren-Shen day (Dec 11) the hidden line emerges; on the Jia-Xu day (Dec 13) Xu Earth clashes Chen Earth away, exposing the hidden line.
Actual outcome
The girls returned on the 7th of the 1st lunar month, as predicted. They had been detained by someone, gone sightseeing at Hua Shan to the southeast, and then to Northwestern University. Fortunately a kind person brought them home.
