Ancestral Death Anniversary Prayer

Death anniversary of grandparents and elder ancestors of the family

Meaning

For families that no longer retain the exact death dates of ancestors across many generations, it is customary to choose a fixed annual day to commemorate all of them collectively. This rite expresses respect and remembrance of the kindness of the entire lineage.

Offering preparation

Offering tray: traditional dishes, fruit, incense, candles, and votive paper. For commemorating multiple generations, a larger tray may be prepared.
