Installing the incense bowl and setting up the altar for Ông Địa (Earth Lord) and Thần Tài (God of Wealth)

Meaning

Setting up the God of Wealth altar is an important custom for those in business. It reports to the reigning mandarins and the Earth Deity, escorting the God of Prosperity and God of Wealth to take their seats in the household to bless prosperous trade.

Offering preparation

- Sticky rice or bánh chưng, boiled meat, 5 raw eggs, wine.
- 9 red roses, fruit, gold paper money, betel and areca, rice, salt.

Content

Namo Amitābha Buddha (3 times) I bow to the nine directions of Heaven, the ten directions of all Buddhas. I bow to the Father King, the Jade Emperor (Ngọc Hoàng Thượng Đế). I bow to the Mandarin …………………. Wang Hành Khiển ……………………. Chi Deity ............... Tào Phán Quan. I bow to the Mandarins of the Southern Dipper and Northern Dipper. I bow to the Tutelary Saint of the village and the local Tutelary Spirit. I bow to the spirit of the Kitchen God, King of the Hearth. I bow to the two deities — God of Prosperity and God of Wealth. I bow to the former and latter occupants. In the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Hà Nội Province, ......................... District, ......................................... Ward. I am ....................................... husband (wife) of ............................................ together with my family. On the …….. day of the …… month, year …….. We have incense, a bowl of water, rice, soup, wine, gold paper money, fruit and flowers, to perform the rite of setting up the God of Wealth altar. I respectfully invite the two deities — God of Prosperity and God of Wealth. We pray that through the three months of summer and the nine months of winter, what we wish for be granted, what is good come and what is harmful depart, that people enjoy ease and goods abound. We ask to receive wealth, fortune, silver, money, and trading prosperity, that the household and home may always enjoy peace and good health. Namo Amitābha Buddha (3 times).
