The 7th day after moving into a new home — offering thanks to the deities

Meaning

By custom, on the 7th day after nhập trạch, the head of household performs a thanksgiving offering to the deities. It is the occasion to formally settle in, to thank the deities for the protection of the first week, and to ask for continued shelter.

Offering preparation

Offering tray: boiled chicken, sticky rice, fruit, incense, candles, votive paper. Invite relatives and neighbors to share in the joy.

Namo Amitābha Buddha! (3 times) We respectfully bow to August Heaven and Sovereign Earth and all the venerable deities. We respectfully bow to the Earth Deity and all the venerable deities of the household. We respectfully bow to the spirits of the lineage on both paternal and maternal sides. Today is the 7th day after nhập trạch, the .......... day of the .......... month, year .......... We sincerely present offerings of incense and flowers, humbly thanking the venerable deities for the protection given over the past 7 days. Our family has now settled here. We respectfully ask the deities to continue to bless: Our family with peace and good health. Our neighbors with harmony. Our livelihood with prosperity and abundant wealth. We offer modest gifts with sincere hearts; we respectfully present them. Namo Amitābha Buddha! (3 times)
