The La Hầu Star is a malevolent star — in a year under its rule, one is prone to calamity, illness, and legal trouble. The rite is performed to dispel calamity.

Kế Đô Star Preparation: The Kế Đô star-dispelling rite is performed on the 18th of each month, with 21 candles and a yellow tablet. Kế Đô is the worst inauspicious star in spring and summer, but travel abroad encounters better fortune. Kế Đô is worse for women than for men. Offerings include: - Incense and flowers; - Gold paper money; - Oản cakes; - Yellow hat; - 36 paper coins. Face due west to perform the star-dispelling rite.
