The faithful sincerely comes before the Buddha-altar at the Cửa Hoa shrine, respectfully presenting offerings, incense, flowers, gold and silver and pure gifts; with the five-body bow, with single-hearted reverence we perform the rite beneath the precious lotus seat. We humbly ask the Great Bodhisattva not to forsake the friend-vow, by the Buddha's entrustment from the Tāvatiṃsa heaven, to shelter and save us and our family as a kindly mother shelters her newborn — by the light of the bright pearl, may sins and stains be dispelled, may wisdom open, may the cloud of compassion shelter, may the heart of the Way bloom, may sorrow be lightened. While alive, may we practice good deeds, following the example of the Great Bodhisattva, saving sentient beings. When facing illness or misfortune, by the protection of your virtue and the help of the local spirit-deities, may we have peace. At the end of life, by the light of the compassion-radiance, may we transcend the three lower realms and be born in the realm of the good. We also pray that the spirits of our family ancestors, by the merit of these offerings, may all be liberated. We offer modest gifts with sincere hearts and humbly ask to be sheltered and supported.
