- I bow to the nine directions of Heaven, the ten directions of all Buddhas, the Buddhas of the ten directions.
Today is the ….. day of the ….. month, year ...................................................
The faithful: ........................................................................................................
Residing at: .............................................................................................
Together with the whole family, we sincerely come before the Great Hero Treasure Hall, at the pagoda.
Shakyamuni Buddha, Amitābha Buddha, the Buddhas of the ten directions, the supreme Dharma, Quán Âm the Great Bodhisattva, and the sage Holy Saṅgha.
The disciple, through long ages and many lifetimes
With heavy karmic obstructions
Now comes before the Buddha-altar,
With sincere heart repenting
Vowing to avoid evil
Vowing to do good,
Looking up to the Buddha's grace,
Quán Âm the Great Bodhisattva,
The sage Holy Saṅgha,
The Heavenly Dragon Eight-Group,
The Dharma-protector heavenly deities,
Gather in compassion.
We humbly ask the venerable ones to shelter us and the whole family — minds free of trouble, bodies free of illness, daily living in joy and following the wondrous Dharma of the Buddha, that fortune flow smoothly, that we ever be steeped in the grace of the Buddha-Dharma.
We also pray for the salvation of our parents and elders, brothers and sisters, kin and friends, together with all sentient beings, all attaining the Buddha Way.
We offer modest gifts with sincere hearts and humbly ask to be sheltered and supported.
